To Settle an Estate
SOLD!!!
North Cove Outfitters, Inc. is offering a matched pair of A. H. Fox, Exhibition Grade, shotguns. Each of the pair of shotguns is a two barrel, two gauge set.
It took more than four years to complete these works of art. They are unfired since they left the factory and come with all the original paperwork and tags.
The shotguns are consecutively serial numbered (# F205829 and # F205830) and each set comes in a leather covered, felt-lined carrying case with a lined, canvas protection cover. Each case contains the appropriate silver snap caps, oil bottle; leather cased cleaning brushes and two-piece wood cleaning rods. |
Descriptions common to both shotguns:
Each shotgun is fitted with gold plated double triggers. Each set of barrels has its own splinter forend with ebony tip with a case hardened forend iron that is engraved and inlayed in gold. The gun patent dates and serial numbers under the forend and on the frame are gold inlay and are marked Exhibition in gold inlay. The top of each barrel is gold inlayed, Made To Order A. H. Fox on the right barrel and Krupp Fluid Steel on the left barrel.
Each frame is case hardened and is highly engraved in a Rose and Scroll pattern, with central medallions of flying game bird field scenes in gold inlay. (Described below) They are also marked Ansley H. Fox in gold, in an engraved ribbon. The frame, fences, forend iron and latch, lower and upper tangs and the muzzle of the barrels are outlined in gold inlay. The trigger guard and top lever of each gun are engraved and skeletonized.
Each gun is stocked (14.5 in. LOP) in highly figured walnut with a straight grip and fine checkering (26 lpi) terminating in a fleur-de-lis followed by deeply cut scroll. Both guns are stocked to a finely checkered and bordered butt. |
