The History Of Used Firearms At North Cove Outfitters
By Mark Enie ~ North Cove Oufitters' Shooting Sports Staff
Over the years North Cove Outfitters has gained a reputation for having quality, used, firearms at reasonable and fair prices. As much as we would like to take all of the credit for this, we really can’t. We are lucky enough to be in an area populated with quite a few firearms collectors. And let us not forget that this is where it all started. New England has hosted such gun manufacturers as Colt, Winchester, Springfield, Marlin, Mossberg, Smith & Wesson and more. Our area is steeped with a rich history that dates back over more than two hundred years.

Ask Rufus

Jack from Allentown Pa. writes Dear Rufus, I have just begun to collect military firearms and I have run across something that seems quite unique to me. I have been unable to find out much information on this gun and I wonder if you could help? The rifle is in a green wooden military crate. It is a Lee Enfield marked C No. 7, 22in MK 1 in .22 long rifle. It has some paperwork, a cleaning rod and a few other do-dads. Underneath the model it is stamped Long Branch, and under that 1945. It seems to be unfired and is in 98+ % condition. Jack, You seem to have stumbled onto something quite juicy indeed. What you have is a .22 cal training rifle. Most militaries built or modified existing rifles to .22 caliber, the purpose being to allow the troops to practice the principles of marksmanship indoors with less expensive ammo. The C No. 7 MK 1 was built in Long Branch, Canada and although most of these training rifles were conversions, the “C” was built from the ground up as a .22 trainer. This single shot beauty was built on an Enfield #4 body to mirror, as closely as possible, the handling of the higher caliber #4. Jack, if the price is right buy this piece of history. You’ll never regret it.
Rufus,

Note From Our Shooting Sports Manager
This June will mark my 17th anniversary here at North Cove Outfitters. I have been thinking about how many new and exciting products have “hit the shelves” over the years here at NCO. Some have become staple items that can always be relied on to perform. Some that we thought might sell slowly have become “a barn burners”, all time best sellers! Then we have the overstocks, things that never sell to our expectations.
